Teeth don’t always fit together properly, and when they don’t it can cause occlusal or bite problems. The list of symptoms which this can cause is surprisingly long, and includes a stiff or tender jaw, pain or discomfort at the side of the face by the ears, clicking and popping of the jaw joints, pain behind the eyes, headaches, and neck and shoulder pain.

You may find that you clench or grind your teeth, although most people who do aren’t aware of it. Sometimes this can be caused by anxiety, or you may do it when concentrating on a task. It can also happen when you are asleep and you wake up with a stiff jaw or tenderness when you bite.
